Dwayne Johnson, “The Rock”, was born in California to a Samoan and Afro-American family .
For a time Dwayne and his mother lived in Grey Lynn, Auckland with his Samoan grandparents. Dwayne was an only child but in New Zealand he experienced multi-generational living with brothers, sister, aunties, uncles and everybody. He went to Richmond Road Primary School, played rugby and still has family in New Zealand.
A natural athlete, Dwayne decided to follow in the footsteps of his father and grandfather and decided to pursue professional wrestling. Taking on the persona of 'The Rock' as a wrestler in the WWE, he won 16 championships and millions of fans. After a huge wrestling career, he tried his hand at acting... and today is one of the biggest film stars that Hollywood has ever seen!
